Snapchat launched the Time Axis Editor, plus competition with Instagram and TikTok

According to Azernews, Snapchat is increasing its competition with Instagram and TikTok by launching a series of new tools aimed at enhancing user content creation. On 12 June, the company released its brand-new “time-axis editor” feature and several updates aimed at streamlining video editing and improving content sharing.

The Time Axis Editor is an important addition that provides creators with a more intuitive way to edit the video directly in Snapchat. This feature uses a time-axis layout, where users can easily trim, move and rearrange segments of the video. When sequenced, creators can add special effects, use Snapchat’s “sound library” music and apply various other creative tools. This makes it easier to produce professional video without relying on third-party editing applications such as CapCut.

For users seeking a simpler way to organize their content, Snapchat introduced a new creation video template. Users need only select a few photos or videos from the Memory, select a song from the Sound Library, and select a template to produce a custom-defined collection video immediately. It is an efficient way to turn photos and videos into good short films, with minimal operation.

In addition, Snapchat allows creators to automatically save their public stories on their home page. The purpose of this feature is to help users to preserve a good moment and create a permanent memory collection. While this runs counter to the Snapchat tradition of “burning after reading”, it allows users to relive or display their most popular public stories at any time and helps creators to build a more sustainable online presence.

Snapchat provides the creator with more detailed insight. The new analytical data will show the number of viewers who have viewed their public content over the past 12 days, thus better understanding the situation. Users can also track the success of their Spotlight posts and open stories and obtain data on the length of the total view and which posts are most involved.

Snapchat will also provide a flow source insight to the creators about where their views come from. Another exciting feature is the ability to track the length of time that users view the Spotlight post and the percentage that they have on average finished watching the post. These data will give creators a clearer picture of what can continue to attract the attention of their audiences.

These new functions are part of Snapchat ‘ s continuing efforts to support creators and to remain competitive in the highly competitive field of social media, with the aim of positioning itself as a key player in future digital content creation. Snapchat hopes to attract more professional and semi-professional creators and to reduce the possibility of users going to TikTok (CapCut) or Instagram (Reels).
